The following are the procedures for admission to the University of Gondar.
- Communicate with the international students and scholars unit under the Office of International Relations under Public & International Relations Directorate and check the availability of programs you prefer.
- International Students and Scholars unit connects the student with appropriate departments.
- Get information on tuition fees and other issues with acceptance letter from the department.
- Send documents to the FDRE Higher Education Relevance and Quality Assurance Agency and get authentication letter.
- Take the authentication letter and apply online via the online application portal.

Registration Procedure
After a student is admitted to one of the programs of the University of Gondar, the next step is to register online via the online registration portal of the university: http://10.139.8.236/. Online registration will only be done once you are admitted to the program. Print the online registration form when you completed registering online and bring the application form to the respective college assistant registrar office together with all other required documents (both original and copy of your credentials, passport size photograph, receipts of required fees (application fee, registration fee and tuition fee) and any other). Also, make sure that if you are admitted to the postgraduate programs you need to send the official transcript(s) from your home institute(s) to the University of Gondar Main Registrar Office directly via post, P.o. Box: 196; ahead of the dates of registration deadline. Applicants admitted to the postgraduate program are required to send their bachelor and/or master program(s) official transcript(s) directly to the university’s main registrar office via postal service only. It is only after the confirmation of the arrival of your official transcript(s) and also fulfillment of all other required documents that the officer will register you and give you student identification card. Keep in mind that it is only when you are registered and given student identification card that you are considered to be the student of the University of Gondar.
Once you have completed registration at your respective assistant registrar office and received student identification card, the officer will term activate you on the plan and hence the Head of the Department of the program will enroll you on the list of courses that you are going to enroll for that specific term. The ICT team of the respective assistant registrar office will also provide you your personal login and password credentials of the Student Information System/SIS/ so that you will have the privileges of the Student Information System.
Identification Cards (ID cards)
A student registering at the University is issued a non-transferable identification card with a unique and permanent registration number. The card, which is a very valuable document and requires careful handling, is a means to access services and facilities at the University. The registration number, often called identification number, which should appear on all student documents, is required every time a student requests any University services. Identification cards are issued to all new students free of charge. It should be renewed every regular semester and returned to the Registrar Office when the student discontinuous his/her studies or graduates. Issuance of ID cards requires one recently taken passport size photograph of the student with his/her name, father’s and grandfather’s names clearly written on the back of the photograph in English.
