The Amhara National Regional State is located in northern Ethiopia and has a population of 22.5 million people, accounting for 22% of the total population of Ethiopia. The Amara Regional State is bordered by Sudan on the northwest, Tigray on the north, Afar on the east, Benshangul-Gumuz on the west and southwest, and Oromia on the south.
